Sisters {Stormie + Roxie}
Sisters Stormie and Roxie wanted to do something really sweet for their mom for Mother's Day. They decided on a portrait session, so she would have some beautiful pictures for her to hold on to and cherish, and we were completely on board with the idea! The sisters showed up looking like perfect little angels: every mother's dream. We decided to shoot around Old Town Alexandria, for its effortless beauty and easy access to lots to do. We wanted the shoot to capture the sweet, playful relationship between the sisters, and set about doing just that, by simply letting them interact with one another and capturing all the little smiles, glances and inside jokes.
How adorable is the red tandem bike? Following the sisters through the waterfront as they rode their wobbly bike was an experience as memorable as it was hilarious. The one thing we loved most about this particular shoot was the amount of thought our lovely subjects put into each little detail: a photographer's dream come true! We had worked with Stormie once before, on a solo portrait session, and had what we felt was a comfortable rapport with her. She brought to the shoot a great wealth of fresh ideas and a sense of ease that comes with working with somebody whose company you genuinely enjoy. As for Roxie, the thing that really blew us away when we later looked through these pictures, was the amazing connection she made with the camera. She established perfect, confident eye contact with the lens, resulting in some truly stunning portraits.
We strolled through old Town, stopping to rest in the green grass, take in the beautiful sights, listen to Roxie play her ukulele and, as the evening drew to a close, to celebrate with some delicious, old-fashioned ice cream at Pop's. Once again, the hours had flown by sooner than we realized, and it was time for us to say goodbye. We enjoyed this session so very much, and can only hope Stormie and Roxie's mom loves these pictures as much as we do! Happy Mother's Day!
