Vintage Glam {Leah + Gary}

Leah and Gary's classic good looks, and the nature of their whirlwind romance, begged an engagement session with a heavy dose of good, old-fashioned decadence. Once they decided on a vintage-glam aesthetic, we became slightly obsessed with finding the perfect place to shoot their session. When we saw the richly appointed, Victorian-styled interior of 219, we knew we had found what we were looking for.

The couple had requested that little Lee be a part of the session. Working with someone that young, especially in a place unfamiliar to them, can always be a challenge, but once we met him, we were completely powerless against those big blue eyes, and all our reservations melted away. Once we started shooting, it quickly became apparent that we couldn't have chosen a better spot for the occasion. You see, although we had never been to 219 before, it was a place that Leah and Gary had been to on a date, and it had a special significance to them, which lent an air of easy elegance to their manner. The electrifying chemistry between the two of them was just the cherry on top.

This session was quite different from any we had shot before, in that there was a distinctly intimate air about the whole affair. We almost felt like voyeurs, secretly watching, and trying not to intrude upon, a very special rendezvous between two people deeply in love. But for Lee's antics keeping us grounded, we might have gotten completely carried away! When our time together ended, we couldn't wait to run home and look through our pictures, and now, we're waiting impatiently for September, when we finally get to work with this lovely little family again, at Leah and Gary's wedding!

Country Farewell {Meg + Tyler}

Meg and Tyler's is a story that truly tugged at our heartstrings. They were a young couple, madly in love, and only beginning their lives together, when they got the news that would change everything: Tyler was getting deployed by the Air Force. This meant some huge adjustments for these young lovebirds. Meg, a nursing student, was going to have to take a break from school, and move out of state to go live with her family for a while: the packing, the moving and, most importantly, the emotional toll of being separated from the love of her life. So when we had the opportunity to give the couple something that would make the difficult journey ahead of them a little easier to bear, we couldn't pass it up.

What the couple wanted was for us to "capture their love", and to give them something beautiful to hold onto until they saw each other again. They had both grown up loving the country life- her in Wisconsin, him in North Carolina, and they both loved the outdoors. We knew immediately that the rolling pastures and idyllic setting of Woodlawn Manor would be the perfect place for our rendezvous.

Meg was just as sweet in person as we had imagined she would be: soft-spoken and always with a smile on her face. And Tyler was every bit the Southern gent we had hoped for, with his cowboy boots and his calm, self-assured manner. We watched the tender, private moments between them from the sidelines, and felt happy and privileged to be privy to a love so sweet. As the evening drew to a close, we said our goodbyes, hoping our paths would cross again some day.

Good luck to you, Meg and Tyler. We wish you both all the joy and success in your future together.
